ICSPR calls for stop of attacks against Palestinian protestors

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) called on the security forces in West Bank to stop practicing any behaviors that violate the Palestinians participating in peaceful protests, and to enable the Palestinians to  practice their legal rights.

It said that it follows up with the ongoing attacks of the security forces against the peaceful protestors and journalists in different areas in the Wes Bank.

It noted that the security forces keep committing systematic attacks against the protestors and journalists using stones, sticks, tear gas, and gas canisters. 

It confirmed that freedom to demonstrate and freedom of expression are guaranteed under the Palestinian Basic Law and the international human rights standards. 

It declared its support to the protestors' demands, warning of the possibility of holding demonstrations against the popular protests in the same places. 

It launched an appeal to the Palestinians to work on resolving the crises that exploded after the assassination of Nezar Banat, and held the Palestinian government responsible for the sorrowful events that are happening in Palestine. 

It called on President Mahmoud Abbas to act and dismiss the leaders of security forces and those involved in the crime of killing Nezar Banat, and to take serious procedures to ensure that the Palestinians enjoy their legal rights. 

It called for maintaining pressure to restore national unity and rebuild the institutes of the Palestinian political system. 

It called on the Public Prosecutor's Office to open an investigation into all attacks committed during the recent days, declare the results and bring the perpetrators to justice. 

It also called on the competent bodies in West Bank to stop violating, attacking, and threatening the journalists and activists of human rights, and to commit to the international and local law standards determined to protect them. 

It called on the Palestinian factions and authority, and formal media outlets to stop giving hate speeches and incitement to hatred. 

It confirmed that the current situations require the Palestinians to commit to their ethical and national duties, to move the current crisis from the fighting circle into a discussion.
