Detainees Commission: Israeli occupation delays providing 5 prisoners with medicine in Negev prison

The Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs Commission stated that the Israeli occupation delayed providing medicine for 5 Palestinian prisoners in the Negev prison.

It said in a statement that those prisoners were facing worrying health conditions as some of them suffered from chronic diseases and need urgent treatment, while some others spent years waiting for their surgeries.

The statement presented some of the medical attacks the prisoners were being imposed to in the Negecv prison and noted that the administration of the prison deliberately ignored their diseases and pains.

According to a report issued by the commission, the prisoner Fouad Al-Shobaki, 81, from Ramallah, suffered from health problems due to his old age. He suffered from prostate cancer, and diseases in the heart, stomach and eyes. Even though he needed special care, he had been imposed to systematic medical negligence.

The report also referred to the prisoner Maher Al-Qawasmi, 42, from Hebron, who was bit by a fly in his leg two months ago, resulting in toxicity and bumps on the skin. He was still facing a bad health condition as his leg was severely bleeding.

It mentioned the prisoner Tareq Salah, 42, from Jenin, who was out of balance after he fell over the ground inside the prison. Although he was injured in the head, the administration of the prison did not provide him with the necessary treatment.

The prisoner Hesham Awad, 20, from Nablus, was also having nervous tics and comas from a while to another. The administration of the prison gave him powerful painkillers to keep him asleep all the time.

The prisoner Farooq Essa, 28, from Ramallah was also complaining of rapid heart rate. His health situation deteriorated after he was arrested and kept in investigation centers for long hours, which had resulted in thyroid dysfunction. He also suffered from kidney stones and high blood pressure.
