Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign Wednesday organized a vigil in front of the GPO museum in Dublin city in solidarity with the Palestinian detainee Maher al-Akhras who has been on hunger strike for 87 days in protest of his administrative detention without charge or trial.
Al-Akhras health is constantly worsening as he suffers from severe pains. There are fears that his organs would completely fall for he is not taking nutrients, except for water.
Many NGOs called to pressure the Israeli authorities to immediately release al-Akhras and end his administrative detention, holding the Israeli authorities the full responsibility for his life.
Al-Akhras, 49, a father of six children, was detained on July 27, 2020, and has been sentenced to four months in administrative detention.
It is noteworthy that there are around 350 Palestinian administrative detainees held in Israeli detention for their political activities.
