Israeli occupation authorities issued 715 administrative detention orders in the first half of 2021, according to Palestinian Prisoners' Center for Studies.
The center said in a statement that the number of administrative detention orders issued during the first half of this year is 30% higher than the orders issued at the same time last year, as it was 557 administrative orders.
It added that the occupation followed the policy of administrative detention as a policy of collective punishment of the Palestinians and deterring them from showing solidarity with the residents of Jerusalem who are threatened with displacement.
For his part, the director of the center, Riad Al-Ashqar, pointed out that last April, the administrative detention orders targeted more than 20 national leaders who applied to run for the Legislative Council elections.
Al-Ashqar stated that the number of administrative prisoners reached 520, most of whom were freed prisoners who spent different periods in prisons and were re-arrested again.
He called on the international community to intervene in a real way and put pressure on the occupation to stop the arbitrary administrative detention against the Palestinians.
