Israel transfers Palestinian prisoner to hospital due to a stroke

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committe  said yesterday that Palestinian prisoner Nasser al-Shawish was transferred from the Israeli prison of Gilboa, where he is incarcerated, to a hospital after suffering a stroke.

The Committee held the Israeli government and Israel Prison Service directly responsible for Shawish's life, and called for a visit by the commission's lawyer to be facilitated.

The Comittee's legal team is working to find out where Shawish was transferred to.

Shawish was arrested in 2002 and is serving a four-life sentence for his activism in the resistance of the Israeli occupation of his homeland.
