The relentless Israeli genocide has claimed the life of Palestinian journalist Iman Hatem Al-Shanti this afternoon, Wednesday, after a targeted Israeli raid hit her family’s apartment in the Al-Malash residential building in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, northwest of Gaza City. Her death brings the number of martyred journalists to 193 since the onset of the genocide.
38-year-old Al-Shanti, a broadcaster at Al-Aqsa Radio, program presenter, and social activist, was killed along with her children. Just three hours before her death, she posted: "Is it possible that we are still alive until now… May God have mercy on the martyrs."
The Palestinian Media Forum mourned Al-Shanti, emphasizing that she, along with other Palestinian journalists, had given their lives for the cause of Palestine. They pledged to continue the path of the Palestinian media martyrs who have written their stories with blood. The Forum also condemned the international silence and failure to protect Palestinian journalists and allow them to work freely in line with international law and humanitarian principles.
The Israeli genocide against Gaza has now continued for 432 days, with intense air and ground assaults resulting in over 44,805 martyrs and 106,257 critically injured since October 7, 2023.
