Al-Dameer Calls for an International Investigation into the Martyrdom of Prisoners in Israeli Prisons

On Monday, Al-Dameer Foundation for Human Rights called for the formation of an international investigation committee to probe the conditions surrounding the martyrdom of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons. The foundation stated that the martyrdom of prisoners due to medical neglect has become an official policy of the Israeli occupation forces, as highlighted by the recent death of Muhammad Fakhri Abd Abu Warda, a detainee from Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to Al-Dameer, Abu Warda was subjected to arbitrary measures, including medical neglect and both physical and psychological torture, which ultimately led to his death. He was arrested on November 20, 2023, during an Israeli raid on his family home in Jabaliya, and despite his deteriorating health, he was severely neglected by his captors.

The foundation called on international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, to intervene immediately, ensuring the protection of Palestinian prisoners and increasing visits to prisons to monitor their conditions and prevent further violations.

Earlier today, Palestinian prisoner organizations reported the martyrdom of four more prisoners from Gaza, raising the total number of martyrs in Israeli prisons over the past 24 hours to five. The four martyrs are Muhammad Rashid Al-Akah (44), Samir Mahmoud Al-Kahlout (52), Zuhair Omar Al-Sharif (58), and Muhammad Anwar Lobad (57). This brings the total number of martyrs in Israeli prisons since the beginning of the ongoing war to 54, marking the deadliest period for Palestinian prisoners in history, according to the statement from the prisoners' institutions.
