Musa Al-Abdallat, a member of the One Justice International Human Rights Organization, has denounced Israel’s deliberate targeting of hospitals in the Gaza Strip, describing these acts as “a continuation of genocide against civilians, medical personnel, and ambulances” and a blatant violation of international law, including the Geneva Conventions.
Al-Abdallat condemned the destruction of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia, which was burned and rendered non-operational. The Israeli army also reportedly confiscated its generators and evacuated the medical staff, patients, and their companions to unknown locations, putting their lives at grave risk. On Friday, evacuation orders were also issued for Al-Awda and Indonesian hospitals.
Al-Abdallat refuted Israeli claims of hospitals being used for military purposes, citing the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s call for international oversight to disprove these allegations. He emphasised that the burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital, the destruction of medicines, and the arrest of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the hospital director, are clear acts of genocide and violations of the Geneva Conventions.
“These heinous crimes—starving civilians, cutting off medical supplies, and targeting hospitals—defy basic human decency and divine laws,” Al-Abdallat stated. He pointed to Articles 55, 56, and 57 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, as well as its First and Second Protocols, which mandate special protection for medical services, personnel, and hospitals during conflict.
He further highlighted Article 55’s stipulation that occupying powers must ensure food and medical supplies for the civilian population. The deliberate deprivation of life and essential services in Gaza, particularly in the north, constitutes “genocide under international law,” Al-Abdallat argued.
He also accused the United States of complicity in these crimes by supplying weapons to Israel, calling for its prosecution at the International Criminal Court.
Al-Abdallat criticised the silence of Arab and Islamic nations, as well as their parliamentary and union bodies, for failing to hold Israel accountable. “The occupation disregards international law and shows no respect for its political ties with Arab regimes,” he said, urging Egypt and Jordan to take decisive action to stop the war.
