Israeli Escalation Kills 43 Palestinians in Gaza Despite Ceasefire Talks
The death toll in Gaza has risen to 43 Palestinians, including women and children, since Tuesday evening due to intense Israeli airstrikes across the area.
The escalation comes as negotiations for a potential ceasefire and prisoner exchange reportedly make significant progress.
In Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, an airstrike killed 13 Palestinians, including displaced people sheltering in a home belonging to the Shahin family. Another strike on the Al-Khatib family home in the same area killed two people and injured others.
In Al-Nuseirat and Al-Bureij camps, 13 more people were killed. Seven were from the Al-Nassar family in Al-Nuseirat, while six others from Al-Sheishani and Yassin families died in Al-Bureij. Shelling also destroyed many buildings in the area.
In Gaza City, seven members of the Al-Harazeen family died when an Israeli strike hit the Al-Farabi school, which was housing displaced people. Other attacks targeted homes in Al-Zaytoun and Al-Saftawi neighborhoods, causing more destruction and casualties.
Despite ongoing ceasefire talks, Israel continues its attacks, with U.S. support, leading to over 156,000 Palestinians killed or injured since October 7, 2023. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders for alleged war crimes, but the violence and destruction in Gaza persist.
