Trump’s Statements Condemned as Endorsing Israeli Genocide

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor strongly criticised the former U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks on the forced displacement of Gaza’s residents, accusing him of endorsing actions that amount to genocide. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Geneva-based organisation highlighted that any plan to forcibly transfer civilians under occupation blatantly violates the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits such acts under international law.

The monitor emphasised that Palestinians, already enduring catastrophic suffering due to Israeli military actions, should not bear the cost of further displacement. It reiterated that Israel, as the occupying power, must be held accountable for its crimes, including rebuilding Gaza and compensating its residents.

Trump’s comments, suggesting that Jordan and Egypt should accept more Palestinians due to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, were met with outrage. Speaking about his discussions with Jordan's King Abdullah and plans to approach Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Trump suggested relocation could be either temporary or permanent. Palestinian factions, however, rejected this outright, declaring that no Palestinian would accept such plans.

Hamas condemned Trump’s statements, framing them as an extension of efforts to erase Palestinian identity and remove Palestinians from their homeland. The movement called on Arab and Islamic countries to oppose any plans for displacement and to support Palestinian resilience on their land. The Islamic Jihad movement echoed these sentiments, describing Trump’s remarks as aligned with extremist Zionist ideologies and dismissive of Palestinian rights.

These widespread denunciations highlight the rejection of forced displacement plans, underscoring the Palestinians’ resolve to remain steadfast in their homeland despite mounting challenges.
