Palestinian detainee Adham Mansour, recently released as part of a prisoner exchange deal, has revealed shocking details of abuse in Israeli detention centers, including the use of police dogs to sexually assault prisoners. Mansour described severe beatings, inhumane conditions, and a dramatic weight loss from 80kg to 55kg due to neglect and malnutrition.
Other testimonies collected by the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor confirm systematic sexual violence against detainees, including forced nudity and threats of rape. Lawyer Fadi Bakr, released after 45 days of detention, recounted being subjected to electric shocks, forced to wear diapers, and witnessing dogs being unleashed on a fellow detainee for sexual assault.
Similarly, Ibrahim Shawish, detained in December 2023, endured brutal torture, including electrocution and dog attacks, while being kept blindfolded for 45 days. Reports indicate that Israeli soldiers in the "Sde Teiman" military base assaulted Palestinian detainees, with one case leading to severe internal injuries.
Since the ground invasion of Gaza in October 2023, thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women, children, and aid workers, have been detained. Many released detainees show severe signs of torture, reflecting a systematic policy of abuse.
