Three Palestinian police officers and aid security personnel were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Al-Shawka area, east of Rafah, southern Gaza, on Sunday morning, according to a statement by the Gaza Ministry of Interior.
The ministry condemned the attack, calling on international mediators and the global community to pressure Israel to stop targeting the police, which it described as a civilian force responsible for ensuring public safety and organizing daily affairs.
Since the start of the war on Gaza, Israeli forces have killed 1,400 police officers and aid security personnel and arrested around 211 others, the ministry reported.
Human rights organizations have stated that targeting police forces aims to spread chaos, increase crime, and worsen the humanitarian crisis, considering it part of a wider campaign of genocide designed to subject Palestinians to conditions intended to destroy them in whole or in part.
