Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged the Muslim world to take a firm and united stance in defence of Palestinian rights. Speaking in Muscat on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference on Maritime Security, he met with Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stressing the need for regional solidarity.
Araghchi praised the position of Arab nations, particularly Gulf states, in rejecting the US-Israeli plan for the forced displacement of Gazans. He condemned recent remarks by the Israeli Prime Minister, who suggested relocating Palestinians to Saudi Arabia instead of recognising their right to sovereignty.
During a call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Araghchi urged the UN, especially the Security Council, to take a clear and decisive stance against this proposal. He denounced it as a blatant violation of international law and part of an ongoing campaign to erase Palestine.
GCC Secretary-General Al-Budaiwi also reaffirmed the Council’s opposition to Israel’s displacement plan, calling for stronger support for Palestinian rights. He welcomed Iran’s proposal to convene an emergency meeting of Muslim foreign ministers to address the situation.
Iran has officially requested the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold an extraordinary ministerial meeting to counter Israel’s colonial ambitions. The proposal has gained widespread support, with the meeting expected to take place in the coming days.
