As Ramadan begins, Gaza faces a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. Families endure severe shortages of food, water, and electricity, with children, the elderly, and the sick suffering most. Hospitals struggle with dwindling supplies, while aid deliveries are restricted by Israel’s blockade.
Umm Mohammed Al-Bayoumi, living in a tent in Gaza City’s Shuja’iyya neighbourhood, told Shehab News Agency: "We came out of this war with nothing. Aid is insufficient, and Ramadan is filled with pain." Having lost her husband, she now cares for six children amid relentless hardship.
Displaced families in makeshift camps wait for food handouts or cook scraps over open fires. Fares Jundiyeh, chopping wood with his children, said: "The blockade has cut off food supplies. Some days, we have nothing to eat."
The closure of border crossings has deepened Gaza’s crisis, leaving its people reliant on sporadic aid. As they endure another Ramadan under siege, they call for urgent international action to lift the blockade and end their suffering. The world must act now to stop this humanitarian disaster.
