Starvation as a Weapon: Gaza’s Children Face Death While the World Watches

In Gaza, hunger has become an instrument of war. As Israel’s siege drags into its tenth month, Palestinian officials warn that 650,000 children under the age of five are now facing death by starvation. Gaza is being crushed, not just by bombs, but by the deliberate denial of food, water, and medical aid.

Aid convoys are blocked. Baby formula, flour, and essential medical supplies are systematically refused entry. What remains is a slow, calculated assault on life itself. More than 1.25 million people are suffering catastrophic levels of hunger, including over a million children. The majority of Gaza’s population now survives on the edge of famine, with many dying from malnutrition and dehydration in recent days alone.

Palestinians view this as more than a humanitarian disaster, it is a policy of starvation, an extension of Israel’s military aggression with international complicity. While governments like the United States, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom continue to arm or shield Israel, Gaza’s children are paying the price. The silence from world powers is deafening, and for many, unforgivable.

UN agencies have sounded the alarm, citing dire health consequences from overcrowded shelters, rising temperatures, and lack of clean water. But appeals for humanitarian access remain unanswered. What unfolds in Gaza is not a tragedy, it is a crime unfolding in real time, with the youngest among us caught in its grip.
