Gaza’s Silent Suffering: A Year of Siege and Starvation

For over a year, Gaza’s 2.4 million residents have endured a brutal Israeli siege, with a systematic policy of starvation pushing the enclave to the brink of catastrophe. Despite warnings from the UN and human rights groups, global inaction has allowed the crisis to deepen.

In Khan Yunis, bakeries have shut down due to severe fuel shortages, leaving dwindling food supplies. Abdel Nasser Al-Ajrami of the Gaza Bakery Owners Association warns of widespread hunger, calling Israel’s blockade a calculated effort to break Palestinian resilience.

Farid Al-Atrash, a human rights advocate, highlights the international community’s failure to hold Israel accountable. While the ICC has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders over alleged war crimes, enforcement remains absent, perpetuating impunity.

Gandhi Rabie, a Palestinian activist, criticises global double standards, particularly US support for Israel, which undermines accountability. Meanwhile, Dr. Issam Abdeen, an international law expert, urges the Palestinian Authority to intensify efforts in documenting crimes to push the ICC towards justice.

With crossings sealed for nine days, Gaza faces an unprecedented food crisis. Millions risk starvation as basic supplies vanish, underscoring the urgent need for global intervention.

As the world remains silent, Gaza’s people endure unimaginable suffering, their cries for justice growing louder. Without action, the cycle of oppression will only deepen, leaving innocent lives hanging in the balance.
