The Government Media Office in Gaza has condemned Israel’s attempts to justify the killing of 10 aid workers and journalists in the Beit Lahia massacre, calling its claims "fabricated and misleading." The office stated that the Israeli army’s statement, which accused the victims of being "terrorists," is based on false information and lies.
The office refuted key points in the Israeli army’s statement, noting that the photo identified as martyr Bilal Abu Matar was incorrect, and the names listed for other victims, such as Mahmoud Aslim and Muhammad al-Ghafir, were also inaccurate. It emphasized that some individuals named in the statement, like Suhaib Al-Najjar and Mustafa Hammad, were not even present at the scene or involved in relief or media work.
The office accused the Israeli army of hastily attaching false accusations to the victims without verification, relying on unverified social media posts. It stressed that the massacre was premeditated, with the relief crew and journalists deliberately targeted and bombed twice, despite their work being documented by Israeli drones and surveillance.
The Government Media Office reiterated that Israel’s attempts to deceive international public opinion will not absolve it of responsibility for the crime, which reflects its systematic policy of justifying attacks on unarmed civilians with fabricated claims.
