Hezbollah has categorically denied any involvement in alleged rocket fire from southern Lebanon toward the occupied Palestinian territories, reaffirming its commitment to the ceasefire agreement with Israel. In a statement issued on Saturday, March 22, the Lebanese resistance movement dismissed claims of its participation in the reported attacks and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
“Hezbollah reiterates its adherence to the ceasefire agreement and stands in support of the Lebanese state in the face of this dangerous escalation by the Zionist regime against Lebanon,” the statement read.
The latest round of tensions began on Saturday morning when the Israeli military claimed that three rockets were fired from southern Lebanon toward occupied territories. Israel alleged that it intercepted the rockets and accused Hezbollah of being behind the attack.
Hezbollah, however, denied any responsibility and urged the ceasefire monitoring group and the Lebanese army to investigate the source of the rocket fire. The group emphasized that it remains committed to the truce brokered on November 27, 2024, which ended nearly 14 months of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun also condemned Israel’s actions, accusing it of attempting to drag Lebanon back into a cycle of violence. “What happened today in the south, and what has been ongoing since February 18, constitutes a continuous aggression against Lebanon and a blow to the rescue project that the Lebanese had unanimously agreed upon,” Aoun warned.
Since the ceasefire came into effect, Israel has repeatedly violated the agreement by launching near-daily attacks on Lebanon and maintaining a military presence in parts of Lebanese territory. Despite failing to achieve its military and political objectives during the conflict, including its goal of neutralizing Hezbollah, Israel has continued its provocations, further destabilizing the region.
Hezbollah’s denial and call for transparency underscore the fragile nature of the ceasefire and the urgent need for international oversight to prevent further escalation. The group’s statement also highlights the broader tensions in the region, as Israel’s actions continue to threaten Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.
