UN Official: Gaza's Suffering Defies Humanity as Famine Looms

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Muhannad Hadi, warning that the situation violates international law and basic human dignity. He stressed that humanitarian aid has been completely blocked for a month, pushing the besieged enclave into an uncontrollable disaster.

Hadi revealed that aid workers are unable to reach 64% of Gaza’s areas due to relentless Israeli attacks, leaving millions without assistance. He condemned the forced displacement of 100,000 people from Rafah in recent days, urging immediate international action to address the worsening crisis.

With Israel tightening its blockade, essential supplies have disappeared, causing bakeries to shut down and pushing Gaza’s population to the brink of starvation. The World Food Programme confirmed that all 25 bakeries it supported have ceased operations, while over 80% of the 2.4 million residents now rely entirely on humanitarian aid—aid that Israel continues to obstruct.

As Israel, with unwavering US backing, continues its genocidal war, the death toll in Gaza has soared to 50,423, with over 114,600 wounded. Since the latest escalation on March 18, another 1,066 Palestinians have been killed and 2,597 injured, while the world watches in silence.
