For the 70th consecutive Friday, thousands of Moroccans rallied to call for an end to the forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza. Responding to a call from the Moroccan Committee for Supporting National Causes, demonstrators gathered under the slogan “Gaza is Under Fire, O Muslim Ummah” in cities including Tinghir, Taza, El Jadida, Casablanca, Beni Mellal, Tétouan, Tangier, and Taroudant.
These protests have been ongoing since the onset of Israeli aggression in Gaza on October 7, 2023. Participants chanted slogans urging action against Israel’s actions, such as “We are all ready to sacrifice; Gaza is unshakeable,” and “The people want to liberate Palestine.” They condemned the Israeli assault, emphasizing their opposition to normalization and the displacement of Palestinians.
Demonstrators carried banners in support of Gaza, Palestinian flags, and images depicting the destruction caused by the conflict. Recent remarks from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated plans to intensify military actions in Gaza and to implement policies that threaten further displacement of Palestinians.
Since the start of the conflict, the Israeli regime has faced accusations of genocide, with reports of over 165,000 Palestinian casualties, including many women and children, and more than 11,000 missing. The ongoing support from the United States has been a critical factor in Israel's military operations.
