In a landmark move, British lawyers have filed a formal complaint to Scotland Yard, accusing ten UK nationals of committing war crimes while serving in the Israeli army during its ongoing assault on Gaza. The 240-page dossier, compiled over six months, outlines grave allegations, including the deliberate killing of civilians, attacks on aid workers, sniper shootings, and the targeting of hospitals and places of worship.
The legal action, led by renowned human rights lawyer Michael Mansfield KC, is being submitted to the War Crimes Unit of the Metropolitan Police. Backed by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and the UK-based Public Interest Law Centre, the complaint draws on eyewitness testimonies and public evidence gathered between October 2023 and May 2024.
“This is about accountability,” Mansfield said. “British citizens are not above the law, and they must not be complicit in atrocities committed abroad.” He stressed that the UK has a legal and moral obligation to act when its nationals are implicated in international crimes.
While the names of the accused remain undisclosed for legal reasons, the report asserts that some of the suspects hold dual nationality and may have taken part in coordinated attacks on protected sites, including cultural and religious landmarks. It also accuses them of involvement in the forced displacement of civilians—acts classified under international law as war crimes or crimes against humanity.
The submission comes amid growing global scrutiny of Israel’s actions in Gaza, where over 165,000 Palestinians have been killed or wounded, the majority of them women and children. Thousands remain missing, and famine looms due to Israel’s relentless siege.
Raji Sourani, Director of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, declared, “Enough is enough. The British government cannot claim ignorance—we are placing the evidence directly into their hands.”
As pressure mounts for justice, this complaint signals a critical moment for Britain’s legal system: whether it will uphold international law—or remain silent in the face of its own citizens’ alleged complicity in Gaza’s suffering.
