Yemeni resistance leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has condemned the U.S. for enabling Israel’s war on Gaza, accusing Washington of actively supporting what he described as a campaign of starvation, forced displacement, and systematic attacks on hospitals. In a speech on April 17, al-Houthi highlighted Israel’s blockade on food and medical aid, citing UN reports confirming severe famine conditions in Gaza. He also warned that Israel’s planned assault on Rafah threatens regional stability and violates Egypt’s sovereignty.
Al-Houthi dismissed U.S.-backed ceasefire proposals as insincere, arguing that Washington and Tel Aviv aim to recover Israeli captives without meeting Palestinian demands. He reiterated Hamas’ stance as representative of Palestinian aspirations, accusing the U.S. of using intimidation tactics to suppress resistance. The Ansarallah leader further condemned Israel’s escalating violence in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, particularly settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging Muslim nations to take decisive action against what he called a Zionist plot to Judaize the holy site.
The Yemeni leader accused Arab governments of inaction, asserting that Israel acts with impunity due to unwavering U.S. military and political support. He emphasized that American weapons deliveries have directly fueled what he termed a "genocidal war" against Palestinians. Rejecting calls to disarm regional resistance groups, al-Houthi insisted that Lebanon and Syria must strengthen their defenses against Israeli aggression, pointing to Israel’s expansion of military bases in occupied Syrian territory.
Despite over 220 U.S.-UK airstrikes on Yemen in recent months, al-Houthi vowed to continue Ansarallah’s maritime blockade in solidarity with Gaza. He framed Yemen’s resistance as a model for confronting Western-backed oppression, declaring that such strikes only reinforce his movement’s resolve. The speech underscored Ansarallah’s alignment with what it sees as a broader Axis of Resistance, positioning Yemen as a key player in the regional struggle against Israeli and American hegemony.
