WHO Demands Action: Israel Must Allow Medical Aid into Starving Gaza, in Line with International Law

The World Health Organization has issued a stark reminder: under international law, Israel is legally bound to allow life-saving humanitarian aid into Gaza. Yet 30 WHO trucks filled with critical medical supplies remain blocked at the border—denied entry while hospitals collapse and patients perish.

Speaking on Sunday, WHO condemned Israel’s ongoing refusal to facilitate access to aid, warning that healthcare workers in Gaza are on the brink of collapse. With no external support, and dwindling resources, doctors are left to choose who lives and who dies.

UNRWA confirmed that not a single humanitarian or commercial convoy has entered Gaza in over seven weeks—the longest stretch of total blockade since the Israeli assault began in October 2023. This man-made famine, compounded by the collapse of health and sanitation infrastructure, has created a catastrophe unprecedented in modern humanitarian history.

With 57% of essential medicines expected to run out in a matter of weeks, and the rest vanishing from shelves, the time for statements has long passed. The blockade is not a security measure—it is a siege tactic in a war against civilians. The international community must act now to end the blockade and restore the basic right to survive.
