UNRWA Warns of Unprecedented Humanitarian Collapse in Gaza

Gaza is teetering on the edge of an unimaginable catastrophe, as the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) sounds the alarm over one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the territory’s history. With border crossings sealed for more than two months, the flow of vital aid has come to a near-total halt, plunging the population into a deepening nightmare.

Inas Hamdan, UNRWA’s acting media chief in Gaza, confirmed that food stocks have run dry. Around 3,000 aid trucks—lifelines for over two million people—are stranded outside the Strip, blocked from entry. Inside, desperation grows. Most families now scrape by on just one basic meal a day, while thousands of children are suffering from acute malnutrition.

“The situation defies logic,” Hamdan said, describing the collapse of humanitarian conditions as “beyond comprehension.” For the people of Gaza, this is not just a crisis—it is a deliberate strangulation. The continued closure of crossings and obstruction of aid are pushing the enclave toward irreversible devastation.

UNRWA has urged urgent international action. But for Gaza’s civilians, time is running out. Their survival now hangs in the balance—not from natural disaster, but from political choices made beyond their control.
