Human Rights Watch has called for the immediate suspension of all military and diplomatic support for Israel, condemning what it describes as genocidal actions against Palestinians in Gaza. The organisation warned that Israel’s ongoing assault has not only devastated critical infrastructure but effectively confined the population to areas unfit for human survival.
Since early March, Israeli forces have reportedly blocked the entry of food, medicine, and other essential supplies into the Strip, while enforcing what HRW describes as a systematic policy of forced displacement. The group argues that these actions amount to crimes under international law, demanding that states party to the Genocide Convention take concrete steps—including halting arms transfers, suspending trade agreements, and imposing targeted sanctions.
HRW has also expressed its support for legal action at the international level, backing efforts to hold Israeli officials accountable. It welcomed the move by the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, stating that impunity must no longer shield those responsible.
As Gaza faces starvation, disease, and unrelenting bombardment, Human Rights Watch has urged the United States and European governments to match their stated commitments to human rights with real consequences—before more lives are lost.
