In a rare and unified stance, the leaders of seven European countries have condemned the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, declaring they will not remain silent as thousands continue to suffer and die under siege and bombardment.
The joint statement—issued by Spain, Norway, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, and Slovenia—called for an immediate end to Israeli aggression and the full lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip. “We will not remain silent in the face of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding before our eyes in Gaza,” the leaders stated.
The declaration comes amid staggering loss: over 50,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed, with many more now facing the threat of starvation as humanitarian aid remains blocked. The signatories warned that without urgent action, thousands more could perish from hunger and preventable illness.
Spain, which has taken a leading role in the appeal, demanded an immediate halt to attacks on civilians and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid. The leaders also expressed alarm at the rising violence in the occupied West Bank and the intensification of settler assaults, urging a return to ceasefire and international law.
As the Israeli military continues to bombard Gaza—with more than 100 killed in a single day—the calls from these European nations echo the cries of a besieged population clinging to survival.
