The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has issued a fervent call to the Arab League, urging immediate action to stop what it describes as a “full-blown genocide” unfolding in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In a statement shared on Telegram ahead of the upcoming Arab League summit in Baghdad, Hamas appealed for urgent sanctions on Israel in response to its relentless military campaign. The group accused the Israeli occupation of deliberately targeting civilians in residential areas and shelters, leading to hundreds of casualties in recent days.
Describing the humanitarian situation as catastrophic, Hamas pointed to the suffocating blockade and the complete halt of aid deliveries, which have left more than 2.5 million Palestinians facing hunger, disease, and despair. “This is a slaughter in broad daylight,” the statement said, blaming the international community for remaining paralysed as the crisis deepens.
With Israel’s assault on Gaza entering its second year, and humanitarian agencies repeatedly warning of famine and a total collapse of healthcare, Hamas urged Arab leaders to act decisively. The group called on the summit in Baghdad to adopt concrete measures to pressure Israel into ending its military offensive and lifting the siege.
As Gaza’s death toll rises and the region’s infrastructure lies in ruins, the statement reflects growing frustration over regional and international inaction. The Baghdad summit now stands as a crucial moment for Arab states to move beyond rhetoric and take real steps to protect the people of Gaza from further annihilation.
