At least 29 Palestinian civilians, including 10 children, were burned alive overnight after Israeli occupation forces bombed a UNRWA school in Gaza City. The attack struck the Fahmi Al-Jarjawi School in the Al-Daraj neighbourhood, where hundreds of displaced families had taken shelter from the ongoing bombardment.
Medical sources confirmed that dozens more were injured and several remain missing. Charred bodies of martyrs were recovered from the site, in what has been described as one of the most horrifying assaults of the war. The school had been serving as a designated shelter under the auspices of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.
Elsewhere in Gaza City, four more civilians were killed and others injured when Israeli warplanes targeted a residential home and nearby tents housing displaced people on Al-Thawra Street.
In a separate massacre in Jabalia, in the north of the Strip, 19 members of the Abed Rabbo family, most of them children were killed in an Israeli airstrike. Witnesses said the attack came without warning and completely levelled the family home.
The Israeli occupation also continued demolishing civilian homes in Al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Younis, while shelling and drone fire targeted multiple neighbourhoods across the Gaza Strip. Heavy bombardments were reported in Al-Satar, Qizan Al-Najjar, and eastern Khan Younis. Warplanes also launched strikes on Al-Maghazi refugee camp, while armed drones fired on homes in Karama, Al-Bayouk, and Batn Al-Samin.
In Beit Lahia, occupation forces detonated an explosive-laden robot in a residential area, adding to the toll of destruction.
The genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation on Gaza has now entered its 598th day, marked by relentless air and ground assaults, mass displacement, and daily massacres of civilians.
According to the latest figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 53,901 people have been killed since 7 October 2023, while 122,593 have been injured. The vast majority of victims are women and children.
The World Health Organization warned that the few remaining hospitals in Gaza are barely functioning, with medical staff operating under extreme conditions and shortages. A WHO spokesperson said: “We need the crossings to be opened to bring in and distribute aid to Gaza,” calling urgently for a ceasefire to prevent further loss of life.
Despite growing international calls for accountability, the Israeli occupation continues its campaign with impunity. From Gaza’s ruins, Palestinians warn that the silence of the global community is enabling one of the bloodiest chapters of the 21st century.
