Just two months after a temporary truce, Israeli airstrikes have once again ravaged Gaza, killing over 400 Palestinians and wounding 500 in a matter of hours, with women and children among the primary victims. The bombardment marks a brutal escalation in what Palestinians describe as an ongoing campaign of genocide.
The initial 42-day ceasefire, brokered in early March, had offered a brief respite, allowing for a partial prisoner exchange, limited Israeli troop withdrawals, and the return of displaced families to their devastated neighbourhoods. However, Israel has since abandoned the agreed-upon second phase of the deal, which would have extended the pause for another 42 days, paving the way for a permanent end to hostilities.
Since the start of the Israeli offensive, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports a staggering death toll of 55,362, with 128,741 injured, nearly three-quarters of them women and children. The relentless violence has left survivors grappling with unimaginable loss, as entire families are buried beneath the rubble of their homes.
With no lasting resolution in sight, Palestinians endure what many call a relentless war of extermination, as the world watches in silence.
