Outcry as US-Israeli ‘Aid’ Initiative Accused of War Crimes in Starving Gaza

Fifteen leading human rights organisations have sounded the alarm over the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), accusing the US- and Israeli-backed entity of complicity in war crimes amid the deepening catastrophe in Gaza.

In a joint letter, the groups, among them the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, called for an immediate halt to the GHF’s operations, describing it as an armed and unregulated body operating outside the framework of international humanitarian law. They condemned the foundation’s role in what they labelled “bloody chaos,” warning that funders risk legal accountability for aiding crimes against humanity.

Since its launch on 27 May 2025, the GHF has been at the centre of a surge in Palestinian deaths. Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that 516 civilians have been killed and nearly 3,800 injured trying to reach GHF aid points, most of them starving and desperate for food. The statement accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting crowds gathered at these locations, turning aid into a weapon of war.

These so-called relief efforts, rejected by the UN and devoid of international oversight, have been denounced as a cover for expanding the Israeli campaign of mass killing and starvation. Over 56,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting dozens more deaths each day.

As Gaza descends further into humanitarian collapse, Palestinian voices are calling for urgent international intervention, not just to deliver real aid, but to end the policies of starvation and extermination masked as assistance.
