Gaza Tribes Help Secure Aid Amid Israeli Attempts to Undermine UNRWA

The Gaza Tribal Affairs Authority has confirmed that humanitarian aid is now being distributed across the Strip in coordination with international and local organisations, following globally recognised standards, despite Israeli efforts to discredit the process and obstruct UNRWA’s role.

Commissioner General Akef Al-Masri stated that the role of tribal councils was limited to securing the safe arrival of aid, particularly in the north. “We’ve now extended coordination efforts to Khan Younis and the central region to ensure stability during distribution,” he said.

Al-Masri made clear that allegations from Israeli authorities, suggesting that aid had reached unauthorised groups, are categorically false. “All humanitarian supplies are delivered to the warehouses of accredited international agencies and are distributed accordingly. No diversion has taken place.”

He also warned of ongoing Israeli attempts to exclude UNRWA from the humanitarian effort, describing them as part of a broader campaign to dismantle the agency’s presence in Gaza. “We stand firmly behind UNRWA and are ready to protect its operations,” he said.

Al-Masri expressed deep appreciation for the cooperation of Palestinian families, particularly in northern Gaza, who played a crucial role in helping secure the delivery of life-saving aid. He noted that the first stages of distribution have begun and, if maintained, will soon reach all areas of the besieged Strip.

As hunger deepens and aid remains a lifeline for over two million Palestinians, local coordination on the ground remains vital even as international agencies face mounting pressure and political obstruction.
