Palestinian prisoner starts his open hunger strike

The Palestinian prisoner Jibril Muhammad al-Zubaidi, from Jenin camp, announced on Friday his open hunger strike, in protest at his continued detention despite the end of his 10-month sentence.

His uncle, Jamal al-Zubeidi, a freed prisoner, stated that the Israeli authorities had refused to release Jibril, who ended his sentence.

It is noteworthy that Jibril was chased by the Israeli soliders and spent 12 years behind the Israeli prisons during Al-Aqsa Intifada, and was released on December 29, 2016, and was re-arrested 10 months ago.

His mother, Samira al-Zubaidi, and his brother Taha al-Zubaidi, were martyred during the battle of the Jenin camp, in which his brother Yahya was arrested, and he and his two brothers, the leader Zakaria al-Zubaidi, a member of the Revolutionary Council, had been chased by the Israeli forces since the beginning of Intifada, in addition to his brother Daoud, who has been in detention for a year.
