Arab, African, and Islamic Blocs Demand End to U.S.-Backed Gaza Aid Mechanism Amid Genocide Claims

In an unprecedented joint appeal, the League of Arab States, the African Union, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have condemned the Israeli siege on Gaza and called for the dismantling of the current U.S.-backed aid distribution mechanism, which they describe as a tool of warfare rather than relief.

Gathered in Cairo for a trilateral consultative meeting, the three organisations warned of a catastrophic humanitarian collapse in Gaza, fuelled by genocide, starvation, and forced displacement since October 2023. Their statement accused Israel of systematically targeting civilians, humanitarian workers, and vital infrastructure, actions they say blatantly violate international law and rulings by the International Court of Justice.

The organisations rejected the existing aid system that has turned distribution sites into death zones, where starving civilians are shot or bombed while waiting for basic supplies. They demanded the immediate and unconditional opening of all land and sea crossings and the safe, unhindered delivery of food, water, fuel, and medicine.

The statement also called for full support for UNRWA, which is facing existential threats due to severe funding shortfalls and political pressure. Without urgent financial assistance, the agency could collapse within weeks, leaving millions of Palestinians without basic services.

The three blocs also denounced Israel’s ongoing colonisation of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, arbitrary arrests, house demolitions, and the targeting of holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque. They warned against any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians, describing it as a grave violation of international law.

Ambassadors from all three organisations urged immediate international action to end impunity, uphold ICJ orders, and establish an independent commission to investigate war crimes and genocide in Gaza. As the region watches Gaza fall into ruin, their message was clear: justice is overdue, and the world’s silence must end.
