The majority of political parties in the European Parliament called on the Special Union's Middle East envoy, Susanna Tirstal, to send a clear message to "Israel" that the illegal annexation of the settlements would not pass without consequences.

This came during a meeting of the Foreign Relations Committee in the European Parliament held on Monday to discuss developments and the prospect of the peace process in the Middle East.

The Committee has reaffirmed the illegitimacy of colonialism and demanded a strong response from the European Union if "Israel" implemented the annexation plan.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously announced that his government is going to annex more than 30% of the occupied West Bank in July.
