As the death toll rises in Gaza, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has delivered a damning indictment of the European Union, accusing it of actively enabling the unfolding genocide through inaction, double standards, and quiet alignment with the Israeli occupation.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the organisation argued that Europe's failure to halt Israel’s relentless assault, paired with its obsession with "monitoring" aid logistics, has turned the EU from a bystander into a participant. While entire families are buried under rubble and food becomes scarcer by the hour, European leaders continue to issue carefully-worded statements of “concern”, void of the courage needed to stop the bloodshed.

The Monitor condemned the EU's focus on aid corridors and distribution as a distraction that masks the root cause: a systematic war targeting a trapped civilian population. The rights group warned that efforts like the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian” mechanism do little more than launder Europe's image, while doing nothing to dismantle the siege or halt daily massacres.

Reducing Gaza’s agony to truck movements and border crossings, while remaining silent on mass displacement, starvation, and the destruction of entire communities, is not neutrality, it is betrayal. In the eyes of many Palestinians, Europe’s stance no longer resembles indifference but complicity, now deeply woven into the fabric of Gaza’s ongoing suffering.
