Gaza is enduring an unspeakable tragedy. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks are killing an average of 28 children every day, while hunger is taking an equally devastating toll: 20 people have died of starvation in just 48 hours. The Strip, already ravaged by relentless bombardment, is now slipping into a humanitarian abyss.
Dr Munir Al-Bursh, Director General of Gaza’s Health Ministry, described the situation as catastrophic. “People are collapsing in the streets from hunger and weakness,” he said, warning that the enclave is now entering the most perilous stage of famine yet. Hospitals, overwhelmed and under siege, continue to receive around 100 bodies daily, most the victims of direct Israeli strikes.
But death is no longer delivered by missiles alone. Malnutrition, contaminated water, and untreated illnesses are silently killing Gaza’s most vulnerable. Cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare but serious autoimmune condition, are increasing among children. Without electricity, medicine, or proper sanitation, Gaza’s health system is crumbling in real time.
The United Nations Children's Fund has sounded the alarm, declaring that hunger has reached catastrophic levels and that access to clean water is critically below survival thresholds. But international responses remain shamefully muted.
As the world looks away, Gaza’s children are paying the price. Killed by airstrikes, starved in silence. The siege must end, every hour of delay costs more innocent lives.
