UN Reports Nearly 800,000 Displaced in Gaza Since Mid-March Amid Intensifying Strikes

The United Nations has confirmed that over 796,000 Palestinians have been displaced across Gaza since mid-March due to ongoing Israeli military operations. Recent data shows that roughly 17,000 people were forced to flee in the past week alone, underscoring the relentless toll on civilians.

Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Daniella Gross, stated that the vast majority of these displacements, around 95%, occurred within Gaza City, as residents fled from eastern neighbourhoods toward southern and western areas to escape intensified bombardment. She emphasised that the surge in displacement directly results from the ongoing military campaign.

The UN has called urgently for the protection of civilians, immediate humanitarian access, and safe passage for those forced to flee, warning that without swift intervention, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza will continue to deepen.
