Gaza Cameraman Killed in Targeted Strike Amid Ongoing Assault on Media

The Palestinian Media Assembly has condemned the killing of Khaled Al-Madhoun, a Palestine TV cameraman, in northern Gaza, describing the attack as a deliberate strike while he was reporting from the ground. Al-Madhoun’s death brings the total number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to 240, with hundreds more injured or detained and media institutions extensively damaged amid ongoing Israeli operations.

The Assembly characterised the killing as part of a broader campaign of “genocidal warfare and forced starvation” against Gaza’s civilian population, highlighting the systematic targeting of journalists and media workers. It called on international organisations to intervene urgently, ensuring protection for press professionals in line with international law and human rights standards.

The Assembly also urged media and human rights groups worldwide to pursue legal action against Israeli officials in international courts, aiming to hold perpetrators accountable for war crimes and prevent impunity, stressing the vital role of independent journalism in documenting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
