Israeli authorities are preparing to cut all humanitarian aid to northern Gaza in what observers describe as a deliberate attempt to drive out more than a million civilians. According to Israeli media, the plan involves halting airdrops and blocking already scarce land convoys, effectively depriving Gaza City and its surroundings of food, medicine and basic necessities. The policy, human rights groups warn, amounts to the weaponisation of starvation and forced displacement, acts considered war crimes under international law.
The consequences are already catastrophic. Families in the north are surviving on animal feed and untreated water, with hospitals unable to function and medical care nearly non-existent. Humanitarian organisations have long cautioned that further restrictions will trigger mass civilian deaths. Yet reports from Gaza say Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted people waiting for aid trucks, killing and injuring thousands, intensifying fears that hunger itself has become part of the military strategy.
Analysts argue this move forms part of a broader campaign to render Gaza City uninhabitable, pushing its population towards the overcrowded southern zones of Rafah and Khan Younis. But those areas are already overwhelmed, with hundreds of thousands living in tents and makeshift shelters. International legal experts say such deliberate deprivation and engineered displacement reinforce accusations of genocide that Israel is already facing at the International Court of Justice.
