12 years have passed since the Gaza war in 2008

Today, December 27th, marks the twelfth anniversary of Israel’s brutal aggression over Gaza, which lasted for 22 days and left hundreds of victims.

Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called this aggression as “Battle of al-Furqan” in which Israel could not achieve its goals.

On December 27th, 2008 at 11 o’clock, Israeli forces shelled different security sites with 80 military plans causing the death of more than 200 martyrs, most of them are security men.

Tawfeeq Jabber; chief of police, Isamil Al-Jabari; security official, and Abo Ahmed Ashour were among the martyrs on that day.

The assault started after an armistice that lasted for 6 months between Israel and the Palestinian factions, with the help of Egypt.

Israel misled the Palestinian resistance by declaring an armistice of 48 hours to cease Gaza’s rocket fire, and then started the war after 24 hours.

Prime Minister’s Office of Israel informed the journalists that the Israeli government will discuss the possibilities of launching an intensive war against Gaza on Sunday, but they actually started the war before the meeting.

It has already started!

Throughout 8 consecutive days, Israel continued bombing different places in Gaza while the Palestinian resistance responded by shelling the Israeli settlement bordering the Gaza strip.

The Israeli incursions targeted hundreds of sites, homes, mosques, governmental schools, UNRWA schools, charity associations and hospitals.

On January 3rd 2009, Israel started its ground invasion to Gaza in which hundreds of Israel tanks and plans started bombing the city.

When Israel failed to achieve its goals by using military plans and tanks, it tended to used untraditional weapons against the Palestinian civilians, such as  dropping white phosphorus and uranium which appeared on the martyrs’ bodies, as the reports issued by the European institutions stated.

After 23 days since the start of the war, Ehud Olmert, Israel’s former prime minister, announced the cession of rocket fire without withdrawing from Gaza.

On the next day, Palestinian factions declared an armistice for a week so the Israeli army can withdraw from Gaza and that is what really happened.

Outcomes:

The Israeli aggression over Gaza resulted in the death of 1330 martyrs; women, men and children, and the injury of 5500 citizens; hundreds of them are disabled until this day.

Israel admitted that 13 Israeli had been killed, including 10 soldiers, and 300 injured.

Palestinian resistance fired more than 1500 rockets towards Israeli points.

Said Seyam and Nezar Rayan, hamas leaders, were among the most prominent martyrs of the aggression.

Palestinian factions believe that they succeeded in resisting and confronting the Israeli brutality and that the war helped them to develop their abilities and weapons, which appeared in the Israeli aggression over Gaza in 2012 and 2014.
