Al-Quds Hospital Oxygen Station Fails Under Fire, Patients Trapped Inside

The oxygen station at Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza has ceased functioning after Israeli gunfire struck the facility, leaving doctors dependent on a dwindling supply of pre-filled cylinders expected to last just three days. With Israeli military vehicles positioned at the hospital’s gates in Tel al-Hawa, movement in or out has been completely blocked, trapping patients and staff in a facility now struggling to sustain life-saving treatment.

Medical workers warn that the situation has become critical. Without reliable oxygen, patients in intensive care face imminent danger, while the ongoing siege prevents the arrival of new supplies. Staff describe a climate of fear, where even those dedicated to saving lives are at constant risk. Hospitals, meant to serve as sanctuaries during conflict, are now on the frontlines, their protection under international law repeatedly violated.

The developments at Al-Quds come as the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza City was dismantled and relocated southwards, following what Israel described as an evacuation request from Jordan. While that transfer was completed, no such order has been issued for Al-Quds, leaving it surrounded and under fire. The fate of its patients and workers underscores the collapse of Gaza’s health system, where hospitals have become both targets and prisons for those who depend on them.
