Israeli authorities set team to monitor Palestinian construction in Area C

The Israeli Minister of Settlement, Tzachi Hanegbi, announced the formation of a specialized team to monitor and follow up the Palestinian construction operations in the areas classified C in the West Bank, according to the newspaper Yediot Aharonot.

Yediot Aharonot stated that the mission of the team is to follow up the construction operations in those areas and to inform the Israeli army, police, and Shin Bet.

Meanwhile, the team will be provided with drones and surveillance cameras, as part of a project amounting to 20 million shekels.

Area C represents about 60 percent of the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley. According to the Interim agreements concluded in 1993, Israel has security and administrative control over the area in which most of its settlements are concentrated in the West Bank.
