Ceasefire in Gaza Remains Fragile as Tensions Flare

U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed on Sunday evening that Hamas has not breached the ceasefire in Gaza, insisting that the truce remains largely intact. Speaking from Air Force One, he attributed recent incidents to rogue elements rather than the group’s leadership, stressing that any issues would be addressed “properly, firmly, but properly.” Trump expressed hope that the agreement he helped broker would continue to maintain relative calm in the enclave.

Earlier, Israeli forces announced a halt to airstrikes following what they described as the most intense operations since the ceasefire began nine days ago. The raids, which they said were in response to attacks on their troops, killed 45 Palestinians according to Gaza’s Civil Defense, while Israeli sources confirmed two soldiers had died during clashes in Rafah. The Al-Qassam Brigades reiterated their commitment to the truce, denying involvement in the fighting and noting that the affected areas remain under Israeli control.

While the ceasefire has largely held, sporadic violence and accusations from both sides underscore its fragility. Civilians across the Gaza Strip continue to live under the shadow of uncertainty, where moments of calm can be interrupted by sudden escalation, highlighting the precarious nature of the current pause in hostilities.
