In the early hours of Tuesday, warplanes and artillery struck densely populated areas in southern Gaza, leaving families trapped in rubble and fleeing for safety. Witnesses in the eastern districts of Khan Younis described entire apartment blocks collapsing in the strike zone, with neighbours and displaced families scrambling for cover amidst thick dust and flames. According to humanitarian monitors, these strikes represent one of the most intense waves of violence since the truce took effect.
In Gaza City’s eastern neighbourhoods of al-Tuffah and al-Shuja’iyya, artillery fire hit residential quarters on Monday evening. Among the injured were three young girls wounded by live ammunition in al-Shuja’iyya, highlighting how vulnerable children remain despite the heralded truce.
Officials in Gaza report nearly 200 violations of the ceasefire by the occupying power since its inception, arguing that the bombing campaign undermines any meaningful peace for the 2.3 million people in the enclave. Local displacement has surged once again, as residents abandon eastern zones fearing renewed genocidal war rather than genuine calm. With destruction continuing and aid access severely restricted, many regard the ceasefire as a hollow promise rather than protection.
