Morocco lawyers submit petition, demanding to cancel Moroccon-Israeli normalization deal

A pro-Palestinian protest in Morocco

Some Moroccon lawyers demanded the Supreme Court cancel all decisions that promote relations between the North African country and Israel, signed as part of the normalization agreement between both of them, reported Anadolu Agency.

"This includes a reversal in the political, diplomatic, economic and tourism spheres," according to the Agency.

The demand comes after Morocco and Israel agreed recently to normalize ties in a US-brokered deal, in which the US recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara region.

However, the lawyers said that the decisions that have been taken as part of the normalization agreement are against the general administration of Morocco as well as against the Constitution, the United Nations Convention, international legitimacy, and the Vienna conventions.

Four Arab countries normalized ties with Israel last year; those counties were the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morroco respectively.
