Gaza’s Women Bear Brunt of Genocidal War, Thousands Killed in Two Years

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that over the past two years, more than 33,000 women and girls have been killed in Gaza as a result of the ongoing genocidal war. The ministry described these killings as among the gravest forms of discrimination and persecution faced by women in the modern era.

The statement highlighted that women in Gaza continue to endure systematic violations, including extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, torture, sexual violence, home demolitions, land confiscation, and settler intimidation. Health facilities dedicated to women’s care, such as hospitals, clinics, and shelters, have been specifically targeted, depriving thousands of access to essential reproductive and mental health services.

Officials also warned that the occupation employs sophisticated surveillance technologies, including artificial intelligence and electronic monitoring, to control and terrorise the population, with women disproportionately affected. Meanwhile, reports indicate that over 1.1 million women live in Gaza, and a significant number of young women under 35 have been widowed, leaving tens of thousands of children orphaned. The ongoing genocidal war has thus reshaped Gaza’s social fabric, placing extraordinary burdens on its female population.
