Ceasefire Undermined as Gaza Children Pay the Price of a Genocidal War

Life in Gaza was again marked by loss on Thursday morning when a young girl was killed in the north of the territory, amid continuing Israeli military activity despite an announced ceasefire. The child, aged eleven, was fatally shot in an area west of Jabalia, highlighting the vulnerability of civilians as heavy fire and aerial activity persist across the enclave. For many residents, the killing reinforced the belief that the genocidal war has never truly paused, regardless of political declarations.

Throughout the day, Israeli forces carried out extensive operations across Gaza, with fire reported in residential districts in Gaza City and the southern areas near Khan Younis. Helicopters and military vehicles were seen engaging targets in densely populated neighbourhoods, while additional air activity was recorded in the north. These actions followed earlier incidents in which Palestinian civilians were killed near eastern Gaza City, further deepening fears that daily life remains under constant threat.

Palestinian officials and rights observers argue that the continuation of such operations amounts to a systematic erosion of the ceasefire, transforming it into a hollow framework devoid of protection for civilians. They describe the situation as part of a wider genocidal war in which children, families, and entire communities are exposed to sustained violence with little accountability. As casualties continue to mount, the promise of stability remains distant for Gaza’s population, trapped between political rhetoric and harsh realities on the ground.
