Settler Violence Drives Record Displacement Across the Occupied West Bank

A sharp rise in settler violence across the occupied West Bank has forced hundreds of Palestinians from their homes, marking the highest monthly displacement recorded since October 2023. Communities report sustained intimidation, night raids and repeated attacks that have made daily life untenable, pushing families to leave land they have lived on for generations while authorities fail to intervene.

The scale of displacement surged in January following the emptying of entire rural communities, including farming villages in the Jordan Valley. Residents describe months of pressure that escalated into constant harassment, damage to property and restrictions on access to agricultural land. What began as sporadic incidents has evolved into a pattern that dismantles community life, leaving families with little choice but to abandon their homes.

Rights groups and humanitarian workers warn that this trend reflects a broader strategy reshaping the West Bank during the ongoing genocidal war centred on Gaza. While international attention remains fixed elsewhere, killings, injuries and forced removals continue to rise across the territory. Dozens of Palestinian communities have already been uprooted since late 2023, deepening fears that permanent displacement is becoming normalised in the absence of accountability.
