Israeli authorities force Jerusalemite to self-demolish his house

The Israeli court Friday forced Jerusalemite Hatem al-Salaymeh to demolish part of his home in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood in the town of Silwan in Jerusalem.

Al-Salaymeh told Safa that he had to demolish a small room above the house and retaining walls, in order to get a permit to his house and protect it from demolition.

He pointed out that in January 2020, the Israeli court ruled the demolition of the house, and ordered him to demolish the 3-meter setback of the house, in order to obtain a permit.

Moreover, he said that he has been suffering for twenty years due to being pursued by the Israeli municipality, under the pretext that he built without a permit, as 4 building violations were imposed on him, amounting to more than 80,000 shekels.

Al-Salaymeh built his house in 1998, and he lives in it with his wife and 3 children, the oldest is 11 years old and the youngest is 4 years old.
