UN Rights Report Cited by Palestine as Further Evidence of Genocide in Gaza

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has said that the latest report by United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk provides additional evidence of what it describes as genocide against the Palestinian people. Presented to the Human Rights Council during its sixty first session, the report documents widespread civilian killings, destruction of homes, forced displacement and repeated attacks on hospitals, schools and other protected civilian sites. From a Palestinian perspective, the findings confirm that Gaza is enduring not isolated incidents, but a sustained assault on its population.

The ministry said the report highlights serious indications of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the deliberate creation of catastrophic living conditions through starvation, mass displacement and relentless bombardment. It argued that these acts form part of a broader system of unlawful occupation designed to entrench domination and deny Palestinians their right to self determination. Pro Palestine activists are expected to see the report as strengthening calls for accountability beyond diplomatic condemnation.

Volker Türk stated that his office has identified a consistent pattern of grave human rights violations and serious breaches of international humanitarian law, many of which remain unpunished. He noted that civilians in Gaza continue to die from Israeli fire, cold, hunger and untreated injuries, and warned that restrictions on humanitarian aid are worsening an already dire crisis. He also called on Israel to end what he described as its unlawful occupation, in line with the conclusions of the International Court of Justice, stressing that the absence of accountability is deeply troubling.
